Last weekend I went to SXSW. It was my first time experiencing the music/film conference. This is truly and amazing event that occurs every spring in Austin, TX. I’m not really sure when it stared but I do know that I’m going back and next time I will be more prepared. Seeing that I want to go to film school pretty soon, next year I will attend the film conference. This time around I went to listen to the music. I had the pleasure of seeing J. Cole, B.O.B, Big Sean, and Big Krit perform and some unknown guys from Chicago who were really talented (can’t remember their name though). These artist put on really good performances and truly enjoyed my time, not just because of all the music that was around, but because of Austin and the atmosphere that Austin gives off. My whole family is from Austin, but I truly never appreciated the city until last weekend. Now I understand the slogan “Keep Austin Weird”. I advise all upcoming artist to check out SXSW next year. There where artist performing literally at every street corner at random venues and establishments. If you are a fan of music of all types SXSW is definitely the place for you. You can discover new artist or support artist you like that haven’t made it big yet or see an artist like Kanye West and Jay - Z perform for free. Clearly you never know what you might find @SXSW. I can’t wait for next year. Maybe I should by my tickets now!!!
This weekend I will be coming live from #HUTAKEOVER. Hopefully I will be able to post lost of pictures and videos. I’m so excited about going back to HAMPTON UNIVERSITY. Going there taught me a lot about life. I now understand that you can’t always be caught up where you are or you might miss out on a wonderful experience and that people are what make the experience. This weekend is about to be epic lol, well maybe not epic but I plan on making more of life’s memories!
This past weekend was pretty interesting. From girls getting dressed to go to a party at a place equivalent to the “Legion” and to the many other funny events of the weekend. PV’s Homecoming was one to remember.
It started Friday night when we got down to PV we went to the Alphas key party, which was at some large Hispanic restaurant that reminded me of the parties I frequented freshman year in college at the Legion. Although the parties at the Legion where indeed fun, I don’t remember people dressing up for them. The next day we went to the football game and then after to the tailgating (which goes on at every HBCU homecoming). The only other tailgating that I can say matched the tailgating going on at PV is Morehouse. There was a field of SUVs, Trucks, stages, and RVs. I have never seen that many RVs in one area that wasn’t a RV park. They had the music blast’n and the grills blazz’n. Generations and generations of PV alum and of course current attendees ascended to homecoming as they probably do every year. Men and women a like trying to relive there college experience if only for a weekend. Later on that night we went back to the house to prepare for whatever we would be taken part in. Which ended up being nothing lol, but in doing nothing we had so much fun. Laughing about old times and making new memories in the process.
I want to thank my brother Yavarion and his roommates for being so hospitable. They are some really good guys and they have clean rooms! NICE!
I’m going to PVAMU Homecoming this weekend with one of my friends that just graduated from there. I’m excited and kinda nervous at the same time. I love my HBCUs but I never been to a homecoming outside of the one’s that are on the East Coast, so we will see how the goes. Pics and accounts of my weekend coming soon!
